Starbucks is one of the most profitable companies on the planet. As partners, we’re building a movement to have a real voice in determining and sharing that success.

As partners at Starbucks stores across the country, we have long experienced understaffing, overwork, and a lack of say in our workplace. Meanwhile, Starbucks has raked in record, billion-dollar profits.
We started discussing the possibility of creating a better Starbucks: one embodying the values that inspired us to work here to begin with.

Stand with the tens of thousands of customers and supporters demanding Starbucks come to the bargaining table like they’ve promised.

Emeryville, CA
Newly Unionized Store
We’re not just baristas – we’re students, parents, forward-thinkers, and coffee fans united by the simple idea that we think Starbucks can be so much better when workers have a say in company and store operations.
We’re organizing because we know we can improve this company, transform our industry, and form a collaborative, creative, forward-thinking, justice-seeking, independent organization that allows us to advocate for ourselves.

Labor leader Mama Cookie (@raiseupthesouth) spoke at our town hall for Starbucks workers about how crucial it is to fight back. Our union’s efforts have won us big victories in 500+ Starbucks stores… and we’re not slowing down. 🔥
YOU put the “U” in Union! Linkinbio to reach out and start getting organized in your store. As we head into 2025, now is the absolute best time to get democracy in your workplace!

🏳️⚧️Trans rights are labor rights - and on Trans Day of Remembrance, we’re reaffirming our support to fight for our transgender coworkers. Below is a short piece written by one of our union’s trans leaders, Christi (they/he) - a Starbucks partner from Pittsburgh, PA, as well as a member of SBWU’s TRAC committee.
“2024 has not been an easy year to be a trans person. Anti-trans legislation is at an all time high, with 665 anti-trans bills being introduced throughout the United States this year alone. 45 of these have passed. Hate crimes and transphobic rhetoric have skyrocketed. We are routinely being used as punching bags on all sides of the political spectrum. It has been a very difficult year.
Today - November 20th - is Trans Day of Remembrance. Specifically, this is the 25th Trans Day of Remembrance. TDOR was started in 1999 by Gwendolyn Smith, in response to the still unsolved 1998 murder of a trans woman named Rita Hester. In the years since, it has become the day we mourn all we have lost over the last year. Every year the violence against trans people - especially Black trans women - gets worse. This last year, 30 trans people in the US have been murdered according to GLAAD… the youngest of these being only 14 years old. Many suspect the number of those affected by transphobic crimes are even higher.
But guess what? We are still here, we are still fighting. Members of our union’s Trans Rights Action Committee (TRAC) are front and center in the fight to protect trans workers at Starbucks in whatever ways we can. Trans people have ALWAYS been at the front and center of this campaign and we always will be - and as we continue bargaining for our union contracts, we are pushing for an inclusive workplace that serves not only our most vulnerable, but all workers within it.
As trans organizers, we are proud of what we have done for each other. The work continues.”

✊🔥 This week, we hosted a historic town hall for Starbucks workers (both union AND not-yet union) around the country to learn about the wins we’ve made at the bargaining table. We’re making our jobs better RIGHT NOW - and it’s all because we’re organizing as partners together! 🔥The strength we have as a union is winning us huge job improvements and protections at over 500 Starbucks stores nationwide, and our town hall energized us to finish our contracts and continue building our union. We even had some incredible special guests, such as Adam Conover, and labor leaders like Bill Fletcher Jr and USSW’s Mama Cookie!
⚠️There’s no better time to organize than RIGHT NOW. With 2025 approaching, all workers need a strong union contract where conditions and protections can be locked-in. While we inch closer to winning our contracts, we’re making sure to stay strong and united until the very end!
❓Miss the town hall and want to learn about our union’s wins? Let’s chat! DM or head to our website (link in bio) to get connected with an SBWU member in your region!
